Terms of Use

These Terms of Use ("Terms") govern your access to and use of the SprechGo pronunciation practice application ("the App") provided by SprechGo ("we", "us", or "our"). By installing or using the App, you agree to these Terms. If you do not agree, please do not use the App.

1. The Service

SprechGo helps you practice pronunciation in multiple languages by recording your voice, sending it to Microsoft Azure Cognitive Services Speech for assessment, and showing scores and feedback. Course content, dictionary entries, and translations are provided for educational use.

2. License

We grant you a limited, non-exclusive, non-transferable, revocable license to install and use the App on devices you own or control, solely for your personal, non-commercial use. All intellectual property in the App, its course content, and its branding remains the property of SprechGo or our licensors.

3. Acceptable Use

You agree not to:

  • Reverse engineer, decompile, or disassemble the App, except as permitted by applicable law.
  • Extract, scrape, or redistribute course content, audio, or dictionary data.
  • Use the App to harass, defame, or violate the rights of others.
  • Submit content that is unlawful, infringing, or harmful.
  • Attempt to bypass rate limits, abuse the speech-evaluation service, or run automated requests against our servers.
  • Use the App in any way that could damage, disable, or impair the service.

4. Voice Recordings & User Content

You retain ownership of any audio you record. By using the App, you grant SprechGo and our processor (Microsoft Azure) a limited license to process your audio transiently for the sole purpose of returning a pronunciation score. We do not store your recordings on our servers. See our Privacy Policy for details.

5. Third-Party Services

The App relies on Microsoft Azure Cognitive Services Speech for pronunciation assessment. Your use of those features is also subject to Microsoft's terms and privacy practices. We are not responsible for the availability, accuracy, or content of third-party services.

6. Disclaimers

The App is provided "as is" and "as available" without warranties of any kind, express or implied, including merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose, accuracy, or non-infringement. Pronunciation scores and translations are generated automatically and are intended as practice feedback, not as authoritative language assessment. We make no guarantee that the App will be uninterrupted or error-free.

7. Limitation of Liability

To the maximum extent permitted by law, SprechGo shall not be liable for any indirect, incidental, consequential, special, or punitive damages, or for any loss of profits, revenues, data, or use, arising out of your use of (or inability to use) the App. Our total aggregate liability for any claim related to the App shall not exceed the amount you paid to us for the App in the twelve (12) months prior to the claim, or USD $10, whichever is greater.

8. Termination

You may stop using the App at any time by uninstalling it. We may suspend or terminate your access if you violate these Terms or abuse the service. Sections that by their nature should survive termination (including intellectual property, disclaimers, and limitation of liability) will survive.

9. Changes to These Terms

We may update these Terms from time to time. When we do, we will revise the "Last updated" date at the top of this page. Continued use of the App after changes constitutes acceptance of the revised Terms. Significant changes will be highlighted on this page or within the App.

10. Apple App Store Additional Terms

If you obtained the App from the Apple App Store, you acknowledge that these Terms are between you and SprechGo only, not with Apple, and that Apple is not responsible for the App or its content. Apple has no obligation to provide maintenance or support for the App. To the extent these Terms provide for any warranty that is not effectively disclaimed, Apple is not responsible for fulfilling such warranty. Apple and its subsidiaries are third-party beneficiaries of these Terms and may enforce them against you.

11. Governing Law

These Terms are governed by the laws of the jurisdiction in which SprechGo operates, without regard to conflict of law principles. Disputes shall be resolved in the courts of that jurisdiction, except where local consumer protection law grants you mandatory rights to a different forum.
